Joy, Happiness and Serenity Derived from Tallgrass Wildflowers in a Prairie
What exactly is it about witnessing the beauty of nature first-hand that gives us a sense of serenity, peace and joy? For instance, why does looking at tallgrass wildflowers blowing in the wind in a vast prairie awaken our senses and make us feel happy? How is it possible for such a sight to simultaneously awaken our senses, make us come alive, but also relax us and calm us down?
In June 2010, a study was published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology showing that being outdoors increases the level of vitality in people. Even just 20 minutes a day spent in the presence of nature is enough to boost energy levels. When we are in need of a boost during an afternoon slump, most of us reach for a cup of coffee or an energy bar. But the truth is that being in the presence of nature is a much more effective and revitalizing solution.
The vision of tallgrass wildflowers in a prairie is enough to evoke a sense of peace and calmness in anyone. The bursts of colour are a pleasure to marvel at and it is a reminder that there is so much beauty to be seen in simplicity. Being cooped up in a house or office the whole day would suck the life out of anyone. Do yourself a favour and bask in the glory of tallgrass wildflowers in a prairie, blowing in the wind. Things are as they should be.
